WELCOME TO BEAR CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
We are in Dundalk which is in the southeast part of Baltimore County. We are a neighborhood school serving approximately 500 students. We believe in the school as the heart of the community and serving our families. In addition to our general education program for PreK-5, we have a K-5 regional program for students with special needs such as autism.
As a Community School and a Title I school, we have many resources for students, staff, and families.
Academically, we purchase supplemental materials such as personal number racks for every primary student to use. We have expanded classroom libraries. We have coaches (Staff Development Teacher – data, Reading Specialist – literacy, Math – mathematics) to guide responsive small group instruction and to navigate the constantly changing curriculums. We offer paid collaborative planning during the summer and school year to understand the curriculum, standards, and how to reach kids.
Socially and emotionally, in addition to physical items that reinforce self-regulation skills and emotional well-being, we also have a staff dedicated to kids. The support team includes two counselors, a social worker, a school psychologist, our school nurse, a behavior intervention specialist, an MTSS Coach, and two collaborative administrators. We have worked with school staff and the community to develop strategies, teach them to students and adults, and work on implementing them. It is always a work in progress to make it better for the kids.
